So Sad :(

We had our first OB appointment yesterday. All was well until we tried to find the heartbeat with the doppler- no luck. Dr said it was good it was wednesday cause the ultrasonographer is gone so we can just take a peek and see the heartbeat. He tried to find baby with ultrasound- but we could only see an empty gestational sac. We were referred for in depth u/s this afternoon which showed 6 week 1 day old embryo with no heartbeat. I should be about 10 weeks along. Looks like I'm having whats called a missed miscarriage- basically baby died but my body has not passed it. I go back next week for a follow up ultrasound, but it doesn't look good.

Everyone keeps saying maybe you were off on dates- but I KNOW my last period was nov 17th and I got a + urine test on dec 10th. That basically makes it impossible to only be 7 weeks along, not to mention the heartbeat thing. So, I don't know. I guess I just thought it'd never happen to me, since we have one beautiful happy girl already! With the timing of it all, we most likely conceived on Dick's birthday (who passed almost exactly 3 months ago). I really thought this miracle baby was a sign from him looking after us, but now...I don't know what to think.

On a side note- Hayden went right down without a fuss last night and slept all night for the first time in 2 weeks! Maybe she knew I was mentally and emotionally exhausted!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot right now!

Chamber of Commerce Dinner Honors Dick with Business of the Year Award!

Last night we attended the Chamber of Commerce Centralia/Chehalis Dinner where they awarded Dick the Business of the Year Award for Dick's Brewing Co. & Northwest Sausage & Deli.
The following was the synopsis taken from the dinner program:
"With the Motto, 'work hard and play harder,' Dick Young built more than a brewery. That philosophy also carried over to how he skied, drove his boat and rode his Harley. Known for his work ethic, love of nature and sense of humor, Dick "Danger" Young passed away suddenly last year, but his businesses, Dick's Brewing Company and N.W. Sausage & Deli, live on. Dick Young brewed his first batch of beer at home in 1984. Around the same time, he sold brewing supplies at N.W. Sausage and Deli and made beer in the back when he wasn't busy. After about 8 years, Dick had to decide whether to quit or make it legal. It took two years of slashing through the red tape before Dick started brewing for real in 1990. His favorite brew was his namesake Dick Danger Ale. Dick Young will always be known for his beer, but we should also reflect on his vision and entrepreneurial spirit that made him a successful business owner and northwest icon. Tonight we are proud to honor Dick Young, his family and his legacy."

New Year's Eve Party!

I planned this whole Jeremy's Birthday/New Year's Eve Party thing prior to finding out I was pregnant, so I was a little leary as how much fun this would be for me, but I was pleasantly surprised! Everyone was fairly well-behaved drunks and although I didn't get much sleep- I had a good time! Happy 2010 everyone!

Jeremy's Birthday @ Apex Karting!

Not sure what to think of daddy's helmet!

Watchin Daddy race

We never do anything special for Jeremy's birthday besides attend someone's New Year's Eve party. SO this year, I decided we'd have one ourselves! First, we all went to an indoor go-karting track here in town for racing, beer & pizza - soda for me! ;) Everyone had fun and it was a perfect surprise for Jeremy!

Nicholson Christmas!

Since we're always so busy around the holidays, we've decided that for my dad's Christmas, our new tradition is the Sunday after Christmas to get together and celebrate. That way no one has to rush out early or not show at all! :) This year, we were at Brock & Nic's house. Super laid back, fun, relaxing holiday! Hayden LOVES her uncle Shawn to pieces! :)
